The Flag

Intro:-

His father left me, before he was born
Maybe that’s why he never trusted no one
Then growing up he just went wild

Military:-

On behalf of our president and of our nation
Accept this flag in appreciation
Your son, a hero, a truly great man
He died in the line with a gun in his hand
Out in some desert for years upon days
He stood up to those who threaten our ways

Verse 1:-

But I saw the time when he came home drunk
Smashed up our trailer and called me a punk
The drink and the drugs way out of control
He totaled our car at just 15 years old
Steeling from neighbours and pissing on lawns
Bailing him out from the arms of the law
I’ve lost count of the times that he said
“Mom, I wish you were dead.”

Military:-

On behalf of our president and of our nation
Accept this flag in appreciation
Your son, a hero, a truly great man
He died in the line with a gun in his hand
Out in some desert for years upon days
He stood up to those who threaten our ways

Verse 2:-

But I heard the lies, I saw the hate
Twisted with anger, all bent out of shape
He shattered the TV, crying tears of despair
When his girlfriend dumped him, screaming life isn’t fair
So now I stand next to his grave
Listening to tributes to a soldier so brave
A man that I never knew
I’m just a mom that’s lost a son.
